Where is the General District Court located?

What are the General District Court's hours of operation?
The General District Court staff is available to serve the public Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., except when the General District Court is closed. Telephone operators are on duty from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What cases are heard in the General District Court?
The General District Court hears:
- Traffic violations (Virginia Code, §16.1-123.1)
- Civil cases (Virginia Code, §16.1-77) - Exclusive original jurisdiction for almost all claims NOT exceeding $4,500*; Concurrent jurisdiction with the Circuit Court for claims from $4,500 to $15,000*. (*Exclusive of interest and any attorney's fees contracted for in the instrument.)
- Criminal misdemeanors (Virginia Code, §16.1-123.1)
- Preliminary hearings for criminal felonies
- Bond hearings
May I prepay my fine(s)?
Yes. Fines and court costs may be prepaid at the General District Court's Accounting Office or online at courts.state.va.us A schedule of pre-payable fines and costs is also available online at courts.state.va.us.
How do I request a continuance?
All continuance requests must be made in person or by fax. The request must be in writing and signed.

Does the General District Court offer its forms online?
