You may contact the Clerk's Office two days before the trial date to check the status of service. If the other party was not served, you need to speak to the judge's clerk on the date of the hearing.
If your matter has been transferred from another court, such as the Circuit Court, and you desire to change the order or to file a show cause petition against the opposing party for violating the order, then you file either the motion to amend the order or the show cause petition in the Clerk's Office.
It is crucial that you bring the opposing party's current address with you if the address has changed since the last court order was entered Further forms cannot be processed without this information. It is helpful if you bring a copy of the existing order. It is the party's and not the Clerk of Court's responsibility to fill out the documents to be filed. If you have legal questions or need assistance, you should consult an attorney.
The cost is $1 per page for the first two pages and $.50 per page thereafter. Copy charges are payable to the Clerk of Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court, at the time the copies are made. Payment may be made by either cash or check or money order.
Files that are located offsite: Due to the overwhelming amount of files, older cases are stored off premises. Therefore, it would benefit you to contact the court to ensure your file is in the building.
